The Act Will Apply to People With Years or Decades to Live

  • Predictions of life expectancy can be wrong;
  • Treatment can lead to recovery;
  • If New York enacts the proposed act and follows Oregon practice, the act will apply to young adults with chronic conditions such as diabetes.

Welcome

“Aid in Dying” is a euphemism for euthanasia and assisted suicide. The Medical Aid in Dying Act seeks to legalize both practices.

The Act has language prohibiting euthanasia. If enacted, this language will be unenforceable due to the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). More to the point, active euthanasia will be allowed.

If enacted, the Act will apply to people with years or decades to live.

Persons assisting a suicide can have an agenda. Consider Tammy Sawyer, trustee for Thomas Middleton in Oregon. Two days after his death by legal assisted suicide, she sold his home and deposited the proceeds into bank accounts for her own benefit.

The Act is sold as voluntary, but also allows non-voluntary deaths.

The Act allows deaths to occur in private. No witness, not even a doctor is required to be present. "Even if the patient struggled, who would know?"

Legal assisted suicide and euthanasia render people with money, meaning the middle class and above, sitting ducks to their heirs and other predators.

In States where assisted suicide is legal, people of all income levels are steered to suicide by health care providers. This was first highlighted by the media in 2008, concerning lower income people in Oregon (Barbara Wagner and Randy Stroup).

If enacted, deaths occurring pursuant to the Act will be certified as natural. This will allow participants in the death, including actual criminals, to inherit.

Tell the Legislature and the Governor to reject the proposed Act. (Bills A. 2694 & S. 3947)

Tell them to vote "No."
